A strong, engaged board is the backbone of any successful nonprofit. At Three Valley Conservation Trust, our Board of Directors plays a vital role in guiding our mission to protect natural habitats, waterways, and agricultural lands in Southwestern Ohio. We are seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about conservation and community to serve on our Board of Directors or participate in a board committee.

Tom has been a Board member since 2019 and Board Chair since 2022. He has a B.S. degree in Geography, M.S. in Economics, and an MBA degree. His passion is land conservation. He owns numerous farms in southwestern, western, and central Ohio, with two of his farms in Three Valley easements. He also participates in the Natural Resource Conservation Service Wetlands Reserve and Conservation Reserve programs.

Sarah Dumyahn, PhD is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Institute for the Environment and Sustainability at Miami University. With a research focus on human-environment interactions and social-ecological systems, her recent work explores soundscape conservation and management in the U.S. National Park System. Sarah teaches courses in environmental science and policy and brings both academic expertise and a passion for place-based learning to her role as Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Land Protection Committee at Three Valley Conservation Trust.
She actively connects students to conservation in practice, most recently by guiding her Sustainability in Practice class in developing a Myaamia Demonstration Garden on Miami’s Oxford campus. Through her leadership and collaboration, Sarah strengthens the bridge between education, research, and real-world land protection.

Ed Teets is Treasurer of the Board at Three Valley Conservation Trust, where he also serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and a dedicated member of the Ruder Management Team. A retired educator and avid outdoorsman, Ed brings both strategic insight and hands-on commitment to the Trust’s conservation efforts. He is also a conservation-minded landowner, with an easement-protected property that contributed to the Amphibian and Reptile Surveys at the Paddys Run Conservation Project. His passion for the natural world and stewardship of protected land make him a valued leader in advancing the Trust’s mission.

Amy Sullivan, PhD, serves as Secretary of the Board at Three Valley Conservation Trust. She is an Assistant Teaching Professor with Project Dragonfly and the Department of Biology at Miami University, where she combines her expertise in ecology with a passion for community engagement. Amy earned her PhD in Ecology and Evolution from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she studied the impact of voles on tallgrass prairie restorations. Her academic journey also includes a master’s in Wildlife and Range Resources and a bachelor’s in Conservation Biology from Brigham Young University, with field experience ranging from mountain plovers to black bears across diverse ecosystems.
Amy’s research interests span community ecology, plant-animal interactions, small mammal behavior, and restoration science. She is also deeply committed to public outreach, using art and collaboration to spark conversations about climate change in Oxford. Her conservation roots run deep—starting in Chicago, where she led her town’s conservation commission and organized programs that engaged residents in restoring nearby natural areas.
Now in Oxford, Amy continues to share her love for nature by volunteering with Three Valley Conservation Trust, helping connect people with local landscapes. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family, baking, and making music on the fiddle, piano, and accordion
Owner, Old Stone Riding Center
Julie Bath Primack is co-chair of the Outreach Committee at Three Valley Conservation Trust and a dedicated conservation-minded landowner with a protected easement. She owns and operates Old Stone Riding Center, where she teaches and trains riders. Julie began working on her family’s farm at the age of 13 and later deepened her equestrian expertise through study with the British Horse Society at Crabbet Park in Surrey, England. She holds a Master’s degree in Molecular Genetics and is an accomplished rider, having competed successfully through 3rd Level Dressage and Training Level Eventing.
Julie coaches for the Miami Valley Pony Club and helps train the farm’s school horses, finding deep fulfillment in helping horses and riders build confidence and connection. Her passion for land, animals, and community shines through in both her equestrian work and her commitment to conservation and outreach with the Trust.
Professor, Geology & Environmental Earth Sciences, MU
Environmental stewardship has been a lifelong personal and professional commitment for Mark. Over the course of a three-decade career as a faculty member and administrator at Miami University, Mark served as Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Geology as well as Director of the Institute of Environmental Sciences. His work focused on environmental geochemistry, climate change, water resources, and coral reef ecology, blending research with teaching. In retirement, he continues this dedication through Three Valley Conservation Trust, where the organization’s mission of land conservation and stewardship offers a meaningful extension of his past and present interests—along with the lasting reward of contributing to the well-being of current and future generations.
Owner and Teacher, The Loft Preschool
LaTricia Hillman is the owner and teacher of The Loft Preschool in Oxford, Ohio, where she weaves nature-based learning into every aspect of her curriculum. With a strong belief that children thrive when they are active, curious, and connected to the outdoors, LaTricia finds creative ways to get her students moving—whether it’s exploring local parks, picking strawberries, or engaging in hands-on outdoor play. Her preschool reflects her deep commitment to environmental education, equity, and holistic child development.
Originally from Cleveland and raised in Palo Alto, California, LaTricia moved to Oxford in 2003 and began her career in early childhood education after earning her Child Development Associate certification. She spent nearly a decade teaching at Oxford Early Childhood Consulting before launching The Loft Preschool. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently completing a master’s in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development from Prescott College.
Sustainability Manager, City of Dayton
Meg Maloney is currently the Sustainability Manager at the City of Dayton. In this role, she advocates for a more sustainable future for Dayton residents and businesses through energy and environmental justice programs. Through this role, Meg has helped save over $10.5 million dollars for residents and small businesses through the energy programs and has secured over $35 million dollars in sustainability grants in 2024. In addition, Meg has helped identify over $6 million dollars in savings through utility billing auditing and curtailment for City of Dayton facilities in 2023. Meg is passionate about advocating for the redevelopment of disinvested communities and works to turn blighted sites into community assets. Over the past two years, Meg has been recognized for her sustainability work and was honored as a Dayton Business Journal as an Innovator under 25, Best Sustainability Staff Member in the State by the Ohio Mayor's Alliance, and the top Sustainability Leader for the Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio region.
Prairie/Forest/Wetland Conservationist and Retired MU IES Faculty/Staff
Donna McCollum is a retired educator and ecologist who brings deep knowledge and passion to her volunteer work with Three Valley Conservation Trust. As a key member of the Ruder Management Team, she leads volunteers in invasive species removal and reforestation efforts at the Ruder Nature Preserve. Donna also serves as co-chair of the Outreach Committee, helping guide events and community engagement initiatives that connect people to the mission of land and water conservation. Her leadership, experience, and enthusiasm make her an invaluable part of the Trust’s ongoing work.
President of the Board of Directors of the Miami Conservancy District
Mark Rentschler is a retired global machine tool executive from Hamilton, Ohio. He also serves the Great Miami River Valley through his long-standing participation on the Board of Directors of the Miami Conservancy District. Mark is also a local farm owner who has protected his property in perpetuity through a conservation easement.
Co-Founder and Senior Biologist, BioSurvey Group
Ryan Schwegman, a resident of Preble County, brings 18 years of experience in the natural resources field to the board. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys paddling, hiking, and hunting—activities that fuel his passion for conserving habitats, waterways, and agricultural lands throughout Southwestern Ohio. Ryan also enjoys spending time outdoors with his two children, sharing his appreciation for nature and stewardship of the land. Ryan is the co-owner of BioSurvey Group, where he helps clients navigate complex multi-agency permitting processes, particularly those involving rare, threatened, and endangered species.
Senior Attorney, EPA
Jim joined the Board of Three Valleys Conservation Trust in 2024. He is an attorney with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where he focuses on the enforcement of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act. He is also an adjunct professor at Miami University in the Institute for the Environment and Sustainability, where he teaches courses in Environmental Law and Water Resources Law and Policy. He is an avid outdoor enthusiast enjoying fly fishing, cycling and backpacking and preserving the natural landscapes where these activities take place.
