The Champion Mill Conference Center at Spooky Nook is a shining example of sustainable development, showcasing how repurposing a former industrial site can breathe new life into a community. Once home to the thriving Champion Mill Paper Company Mill 2, which flourished for over a century and employed thousands until its closure in 2012, this site stood empty for many years. Today, after a transformative $165 million renovation, it has been reborn as a state-of-the-art venue featuring a conference center, hotel, and sports complex along the scenic Great Miami River. This ambitious project underscores the commitment to sustainability by revitalizing an abandoned site, reducing the need for new construction on undeveloped land, and preserving natural habitats.
